with a flared bow. The exciting exterior design is by the late Bjorn Johansson and the interior is a Terence Disdale design at its finest. Not least because of her eye-catching teal coloured hull, Sunrays is certain to stand out amongst the yachts this summer. Sunrays is another unique and innovative yacht, respecting the vision of both the owner and the designers.
Designer's Statement: The 'Sunrays' story stems from a futuristic thinking client who discovered the remarkable styling talents of the late Bjorn Johansson. Bjorn worked occasionally for Terence Disdale Design on freelance projects.
The client was very excited by Bjorn's radical approach to superstructure styling and the project order was placed with Oceanco who had great experience in yachts of this length and type. Her sleek and elegant style lines, with the distinctive "dagger" motif, were drawn to create an overall impression of power and strength, inspired by Bjrn's earlier award winning "Mirage" concept design.
Unfortunately early in 2008, Bjorn died in an untimely motorcycle accident. Subsequently Bjorn's team continued with the project to ensure his very special creation came to life the way he intended;
The clients wanted a very modern and unusual interior and Terence Disdale Design were commissioned to undertake this challenging design commission.
The interior features a collection of rare finishes including hand carved doors, mother of pearl, cow horn veneers, crushed shell, shagreen, parchment and various suedes and leathers.
Various furniture items were made in Germany and dispatched to Bali, Indonesia and Columbia where the various specialist artisans applied the custom finishes and shipped them back to the yard for installation.
The main stair lobby features a glass and stainless steel cylindrical elevator surrounded by carved wood walls stretch covered with mushroom leather.
The yacht is equipped with all the latest entertainment equipment including a dining table that converts into a gimbled snooker/pool table.
The accommodation comprises of: 3 VIP Suites, 4 Guest Cabins, 1 Owners Suite, Owners Study, Massage and steam room, Dining Room, Main Saloon, Library, Upper Saloon, Bridge Deck Lounge, Heli Deck Bar
The yacht is maintained and catered for by 26 crew . There are Jacuzzi facilities on four separate decks, as well as three external bar areas.
The tender garage is located after beneath the main deck and can accommodate vessels up to 11 m in length.
Sunrays is exceptionally spacious with accommodation for 16 guests and distinguished for her multifunctional features.
Sunrays has twin 3,492kW MTU 16V 595 TE 70 engines and can achieve a maximum speed of 20 knots.
